  • U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (U.S. public domain): QCEW total covered, annual average establishments.
  • Read through economicdata.dev, dataset qcew, version 2026-10-26.555cc1e983; its 48 input files from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics are named with their sha256 in this page's data, and the site's checks recompute every figure from them.
  • A year counts once all four of its quarters are published and none is suppressed. Jobs is the mean of the year's twelve monthly counts; the average weekly wage is the year's total wages divided by that mean and by 52, as BLS computes its annual averages; establishments is the mean of the four quarterly counts.
  • BLS publishes each quarter about five months after it ends; economicdata.dev re-reads it daily.
  • 14 areas in the source are not places in the geo registry and are left out: us-county-02261, us-county-02270, us-county-09001, us-county-09003, us-county-09005, us-county-09007, us-county-09009, us-county-09011, us-county-09013, us-county-09015, us-county-46113, us-county-78010, us-county-78020, us-county-78030 (Connecticut's former counties, retired Alaska and South Dakota codes, the Virgin Islands).
