  • MIT Election Data and Science Lab, U.S. House 1976–2024 (CC0): MEDSL House returns, regular general elections, (Republican − Democratic) / all votes.
  • Read through electiondata.dev, dataset house-results, version 2026-10-26.cc2e247a45; its 1 input files from the MIT Election Data and Science Lab are named with their sha256 in this page's data, and the site's checks recompute every figure from them.
  • The margin adds up every regular general House race in the state (not special elections, runoffs or DC's non-voting delegate): the Republican candidates' votes minus the Democratic candidates' votes, as a share of every vote cast in those races. A candidate on several ballot lines (fusion voting, in New York and a few other states) counts once, for their biggest line. A seat with no Democrat or no Republican on the ballot pulls the margin toward the party that holds it, and some states print no count at all for an unopposed seat (Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana and Oklahoma), so the "Uncontested" column says how many there were. Changes compare with 2, 4 and 10 years before.
  • Every two years, when MEDSL publishes the certified district returns.
